Umbilical Cord Coiling Index at Term Gestation and Its Association with Perinatal Outcomes

چکیده
Background: Umbilical coiling index (UCI) is the number of coils in cord divided by cordlength centimeters. .On basis UCI umbilical cords have been grouped as: hypocoiled,( UCILess than 10th percentile ) normocoiled ( between 10th–90th percentile) and hypercoiled (UCIMore 90th percentile). Various reports shown that abnormal associated withadverse perinatal outcomes. There a wide variations among various studies done so far. Somestudies reported significant association adverse outcomeswhereas few did not show association. Material & Methods: This prospective studywas conducted on 200 randomly selected Indian pregnant women with singleton pregnancy at POG 37weeks.The less more were considered as hypocoiledand respectively Then intrapartum events (fetalheart rate (FHR) abnormality, meconium stained liquor, mode delivery )and neonatal outcome birthweight, IUGR,Apgar score need for NICU admission evaluated. Results Conclusion Themean was 0.21 0.08 /cms. (9.50%) hypocoiled 81%) were, andhypercoiled (9.50%). No statistically found coilingand outcomes

متن کاملThe Sonographic Umbilical Cord Coiling in Late Second Trimester of Gestation and Perinatal Outcomes
BACKGROUND This study was conducted to determine whether or not the umbilical cord coiling index (UCI) during the late second trimester of gestation is associated with perinatal outcomes. METHODS This was a retrospective study of 251 pregnancies in which a fetal anatomic survey with a recorded UCI was performed at 22-28 weeks gestation. The subjects were divided into normocoiled, hypocoiled, ...
متن کاملAbnormal Umbilical Cord Coiling Index and Its Relation to Adverse Perinatal Outcome
Background: The umbilical cord is vital to the development, well being and survival of the fetus. A coil of the cord is defined as a complete 360 degree spiral course of umbilical vessels around Wharton’s jelly. Sonographically, the Umbilical Coiling Index (UCI) is defined as the reciprocal of the average distance between a pair of coils. Hypocoiled cords are those with UCI < 10 centile while h...
متن کاملThe association Between Umbilical Coiling Index and Fetal Distress
Introduction: It is well know that fetal distress is one of the important causes of fetus perinatal morbidity and mortality. In this study, we sought to evaluate the association between umbilical coiling index and fetal distress.Material and method:This was a case- control study conducted on 90 term pregnant women. Study group had fetal distress (abnormal fetal heart rate, meconium staining, Ap...

OBJECTIVE Evaluation of the relationship between umbilical coiling index (UCI) and adverse perinatal outcome. METHOD A prospective study was performed on 699 pregnant women who were 37-40 weeks. UCI was determined by dividing the total number of the complete vascular coiling by the total umbilical cord length in centimeters. Then the relationship between UCI and neonatal weight, amniotic flui...
